  • Most of our orders ship via UPS. Exceptionally large orders may be shipped through another carrier. FedEx or the US Postal Service may also used on occasion.
  • This depends upon where you live. Optimal storage conditions are a cool, dry place. Avoid prolonged storage at temperatures above 75 degrees.
  • On average, each adult serving requires one cup of water.
  • Yes. All meals containing real meat are freeze-dried. In the Essentials and Emergency Plus kits, the lasagna, beef stroganoff and rice and chicken contain freeze-dried, real meats. At the request of our customers and for the purpose of adding variety, the creamy chicken rotini contains a soy based (vegetarian) chicken.

    In the larger family packages which contain food in #10 cans (i.e., 632, 948, 1264, 1896, 2528, 3792), all meals containing real meat are freeze-dried. All freeze-dried items in our packages have either been nitrogen flushed or contain an oxygen absorbing packet to eliminate oxygen.

    Some of the meals in our packages do not require freeze-drying and are therefore, not freeze-dried. For example, granola, oatmeal and rice are not freeze-dried.

  • The producers of our food have been in business over 25 years. They are experts at eliminating water and oxygen from the food, which is a critical part of long-term food preservation. Some of the recipes we use today, which have been around for over 30 years, have been tested and found to be nutritionally sound and great tasting after being stored over that period. So long as the food is stored in a cool, dry place, it should maintain its freshness and quality for years to come.
  • The majority of orders leave our warehouse within 2-3 business days based upon product availability. However, there may be circumstances that cause an order to ship outside that time period. If you have questions about receiving your order within a certain time frame, please contact us and we will do our best to help.

  • Many of our foods are freeze dried while the rest are either dehydrated or in their original state (oatmeal, rice, etc.). With freeze drying, preservation is possible because the greatly reduced water content inhibits the action of microorganisms and enzymes that would normally spoil or degrade the substance. Freeze-drying also causes less damage to the substance than other dehydration methods using higher temperatures. Freeze-drying does not usually cause shrinkage or toughening of the material being dried. In addition, flavors, smells and nutritional content generally remain unchanged.

Because we value our customers and want you to be satisfied, we make it easy for you to return any order for any reason. Upon receiving your order, be sure to inspect all products for damage or discrepancies. If you are, for any reason, not satisfied with your order, simply follow the steps below to return your product and receive a refund or replacement item.

    Damaged or defective items returned within 30-days of the original order date will be fully refunded or replaced absolutely free of charge. For returns or refusals within 30-days of the original order date, for any other reason than damaged or defective items, the customer is responsible for shipping the items to FoodInsurance.com and the customer will be refunded the full order amount less a 15% restocking fee to cover applicable shipping costs to the original destination address. All sales are final after 30 days from original order date.

    To return a product, simply follow the steps below:

    1. Before returning any items, call our customer service number at 1-866-GOTFOOD to get a Return Authorization Number. Every order that is returned to us or refused by the customer must have an R.A. Number in order to be processed or accepted.
    2. Make sure the items are repackaged in their original boxes and are in new condition.
    3. Ship the items back to us via UPS or U.S. Mail. If the item is damaged or defective we cover the costs of returning the items to us and have UPS pick the items up from your house if you choose.
    4. After receiving the items at FoodInsurance.com, we will then either issue a refund (via credit card, check, or store credit) for the full order amount less a 15% restocking fee (if returned after 30 days or for any other reason than damaged or defective items), or we will send a replacement item.
  • The Essentials Kit, The Emergency Plus Kit, and the Two-Week Food Kit have a flat-rate shipping charge of $9.99. The Emergency Add On has a flat shipping rate of $7.99. All meal packages come with free shipping.
